Single Mom, What a Life, is a positive place for single mothers to heal, connect, and thrive.
This blog launched at the end of 2014 and has been well received with just over 40 thousand views. If a woman is a single mother by choice, divorce, or domestic violence she should have a place to go. This is that place with tips unique to single mothers on parenting, relationship (dating, family, friends), and everything in-between.
I believe that single motherhood is not an unnatural thing or anything to be embarrassed about. Single mothers have been the support of many greats in history (Barack Obama, Angelina Jolie, Keanu Reeves, Mariah Carey, Jet Li, and Marilyn Monroe). This is a place where the wonders and struggles are talked about, but never a place where single motherhood is shinned in a negative light.
My goal in life is to help others I am on this learning curve with the rest of you single moms. This blog did not start off as what it is today. I starting blogging to deal with the stress and anxiety of an unplanned pregnancy and the realization at 21 I was on the road to being a single mother. I creating the blog for people like myself to find a positive place for single mothers. So many sites talk about the negatives and I believe that is half of the problem with single motherhood. All the negativity ends here!
This is a place for single mothers to grow, prosper, and become all they want to be as mothers and women. If this something you are working for are already are subscribe. I also have a group for single mothers on Google + would love you to join.
Meet the voice behind the blog!

Iman the writer and creator behind Single, Mom What a Life!
I was raised by a single mother with mental illness and it made me very fearful of becoming a single mother. When I was 21 I got married (bad idea) and he became every kind of abusive but hitting me. Before I could decide what to do I found out I was pregnant. Making matters worse my ex kicked me out at 5 weeks pregnant. We went to marriage counseling on and off during my pregnancy but he would not listen to the counselor. But the great things that came from this was the suggestion to write to deal with the stress and anxiety (my therapist wanted me on meds). However, in the end I made the decision to walk away from the marriage (you can read my story here). So I was a single divorced mom at 22.
After a few years of hobby blogging I stopped blogging, but I was seeing so many negative post on other blogs and sites about single mothers. I decided to fight back by creating a positive single mom blog. Single mothers do the work of two often times with less resources. We are strong, and need the same positive support married mothers receive. For that reason, I relaunched the blog. I have had so much love since starting the blog, and I am looking forward to the future. Right now outside of blogging (and being a mom) I am a full time toddler teacher.
I know this is about me I am the blogger but I want you all to meet the little man inspiring me.

Noah

Noah is four, loves trucks, vacuums, and going on walks. This little man is my world and has truly shown me how strong I can be.

  1. Wow! This is an inspiration. I really applaud your efforts to create a positive space. As wonderful as the internet and blogging communities can be there are often naysayers and folks who are downright mean. I'm sure people will find you here!

  7. You're a true inspiration and what you are doing for mothers is great. I can just think about how nice it would have been for my single mom back in the day to have a support system like this, but in the 90s there weren't any blogs...

    1. Thank you, and yes I can imagine that in the 90's having a blog to say everything is okay would have save a lot of mothers some grife.
